oh, btw

we got the results from the placement lottery!!!!!! i got a toronto placement, and even better, it's downtown!!!!!!!!!!!! i can literally walk to both hospitals!!!! thanks to the most wonderful schoolmate ever, who switched her downtown placement with me. my original placement was at yonge and steeles and the catchment area included *gasp* aurora, north etobicoke, richmond hill and more. i'm a city girl, i rarely go north of bloor, unless absolutely necessary:), and on top of it all, i don't have a car! however, the downtown placement is slightly north of bloor, but not too far. yaaaaaaaaaay, i'm sooooo excited, i'm finally on my way!

new home

so i'm moving to blogger, as i've said before, so bookmark the new page (which of course isn't ready yet, but will be on Tuesday) www.catchersknit.blogger.com see u there.

on the knitting front, i've been trying my hardest to knit, but with midterms coming up, i haven't been knitting as much as i'd like. i did finish the back of carla, so now i'm onto the sleeves. i started one, but then i decided i'd do them both at once since i use circular needles anyway, so hoopefully they'll be completed soon. I still haven't picked a major winter pattern i'd like to do, i'm still searching for some yarn for that loop d loop jacket, i'd love to do it in manos, but i'm on a strict yarn diet, so i'm going to have to find something more economical! i still have a crap load of ufo's that need tending to, so maybe i should take care of them before starting any new projects (did i just say that!)

i'm moving

so my 90 day free trial is running out!!! i think i'm going over to blogger i've set up a blog there, it's not totally complete, so for the next week, i'll still be using typepad, starting october 19th, you can find me @ catchersknit.blogger.com. does anyone know how to redirect people from typepad to a new blog?

i need help!!!

i thought i had overcome my need to consume with the birth of my son. as this is when a woman puts her own needs aside to tend to everyone else, besides herself (that didn't last for more than 10 seconds). but seriously, i've always had a huge shopping problem, not a day would pass without a purchase of some sort. i've tried to view my life as complete just as it is, i go to the zen buddhist temple whenever i can... yet shopping itself remains the temple of my familiar, bringing me neverending bliss and heartache all at the same time! so sad... but today was soo cold, a sign that winter is on its way, so who could resist this hand dyed yarn from fleece artist, this could make a lovely scarf

and with all my 3 days at the gym last week, don't i deserve a new gym bag from lululemon

Dscn0705_1. i can't even mention all the other things i've bought (my partner reads this sometimes), i'll give u a hint though, h&m (just opened up @ the eaton centre).

as for knitting, carla is still stalled, i've had no time to really knit the past couple of weeks (yet i continue to buy yarn?).

oh i have yet another dilema. i created this blog using a 90 day trial period which will be ending in 14 days!!!!! i was thinking of going over to blogger, it being free and all, anyone out there have any advice? should i just stay with typepad? will blogger do? where can i find cool templates?

yay me!

so i went to the gym 3 times this week!!!!!! i've been getting back into the groove of spinning. so yay me!!!! as for knitting, i've done about 2 rows on my carla :( it's been crazy - school, work, family yada yada yada... went to lettuce knit and thought i'd treat myself to some yarn, got me some manos del uruguay in a nice manly brown varigated mix(my camera's battery is dead, i'll post pix soon). i think i'll make a scarf for one of my brother in-laws for xmas. we're going to the UK to visit family so i have tonns of stuff to knit (when???!!!?). on the down side, my little boy is sick, he has a fever, and a stuffy nose, so the place smells like eucalyptus. gotta go, he's waking up...

September 27, 2004

i've completed the first front/back of carla, not sure if this looks right, but hey! what u gonna do? It looks kind of big, but hey, so am i. i've started the second of the two, but with school right now, i'm not sure when it'll get done. and then there are the sleeves, geezzzz!Dscn0698_1

like right now, i should be reading about duchenne and myotonic muscular distrophy, and map the molecular genetic mutation in the dystrophin gene and describe how this all happens, yadda yadda yadda. don't get me wrong, i can't wait to be a midwive, but the course work is killing me. did i mention i have no science background? anyway... on an even scarier note, i put in my choices for my clinical placement, as did all the students entering placement in january. there are only 10 spots for toronto (my first choice) soo please send me, and the computer that facilitates the lottery process that in the end spits out our destiny, some good vibes!!!!

I'm going to try my hardest to make it to this week's stitch and bitch at lettuce knit. since the start of school i've sort of fallen off. i still have to get yarn to start that loop d loop project i've been trying to start for the last year. and even though i said i wasn't going to finish off dude's scarf anytime soon, i've changed my mind, he's a sweetie, and well deserving of a handmade scarf, even if it's a boring ol' 1x1 rib ugh.

updates

as you can see, back to school means less posting! nothing interesting yet! I'm not doing any clinical courses until January, so for the next few months you'll only hear about my reproductive physiology course, as well as the health promo course.

as for knitting...

i'll post pictures soon! I'm still working on carla, i've started the dreaded raglan increases, and so far so good. almost done the front. as for that infamous rebecca cardigan, i was almost done the front panel, before realizing that i had not binded off for the armhole. not quite sure what to do with this one? do i just put her asside for next spring, start a new winter project, or do i continue on this quest to finish this crazy cardigan? I think i will start a nice scarf for myself, this morning was rather chilly.

back to school

first day of school, yay! getting back into school mode when you have a job is hard enough, but when you have a family, pure hell! today didn't start out too well, but class was great. I'm taking reproductive physiology, and it seems interesting enough, i have tonns of research to do already. i'm also taking an online course 'health education and health promotion' you do either a thesis or a practicle project. i've decided to do a project, creating an online blog forum for expecting and new mom's. what do u think?

on the knitting front, carla is coming along. the rebecca cardi has taken a back seat, she was moving along smoothly, and you know when things start to go too well, it's time to stop. as for THE SCARF, after the role my dear partner played in this mornings fiasco, it's back in the queue, this xmas doesn't seem likely, next xmas ain't promising either.

here she is, well part of her at least

here she is, carla, isn't she great!
Dscn0678
i started her on the car ride home from my mums place. my little boy and i went to visit her, while my partner stayed home and finished putting down the lovely floors you see beneath her. I've not yet reached the dreaded decreases, but so far so good.

and here is a picture of THE SCARF!
Dscn0676_1
I started this scarf now about 5 years ago, it was meant to be an xmas gift for my new beau at the time. 5 years have past, and every xmas since then, i've been remindind of this unfinished project. everytime i go to start a new and exciting project i hear ehem... as if to remind mind me of this dreaded 1x1 rib nightmare i started 5 years ago. well the ehem, has now turned into a threat to post comments to my blog like 'where's my scarf' 'why don't you finish my scarf' 'are you ever going to finsh my scar?' until i actually do! is it just me, or is 1x1 rib not the most boring stitch? I've promised to have this scarf completed by oct 15th, however that's not good enough, so i've pushed the date up to the end of sept. i guess i'll be bringing this to the stitch and bitch on wed.

finally

DSCN0667i've finally finshed the back, now i have the front and the sleeves. this cardigan has given me much grief, hoepfully the rest of it will be smooth sailing from here on in!!!! an't take no more drama!

So excited, my friend just had a beautiful baby girl, now i'm feeling all notstalgic, i wan't another one! my parnter reminds me of the 32 hours of full on contractions i endured, but that's a distant memory, all i remeber is the not so little bundle of joy, bullshit! i remember every stabbing contraction, and despite that, i still want another baby. however, we have decided to wait until i'm done school, at which pooint, i'll never be able to have another little one, because i'll have no time to raise it! don't get me started on mdiwifery! speaking of which, i start school next tuesday!!!! i've done none of the things i said i'd do in order to prepare!! i've already started an online course, we'll see how it all goes
